چکیده

Objective: To investigate the variations in normal Doppler indices of portal vein during post-operative period following living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). Methodology: This retrospective cohort study was carried out at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Research Centre from July 1 to December 31 2021. It included all adult patients over 16 years age who underwent Living Donor Transplant Triplex ultrasound LDLT recipients performed intraoperatively postoperatively for 5 consecutive days. Subsequent scans were 2 weeks, 4 months, 6 months after transplant. Portal velocities taken extrahepatic part, anastomosis, intrahepatic part. Statistical analysis using SPSS version 20. Results: The involved 91 patients, with ages ranging 17 73 a mean 44.9 years. Among recipients, 79% male 21% female. venous varied between cm/s 357 cm/s. All had antegrade flow. normalized within 4-6 LDLT. Conclusion: A wide range can be encountered without clinically significant outcome these usually normalize

Hypercoagulability in Liver Transplant Recipients: Does Portal Vein Thrombosis Predict Post-Operative Thrombotic Complications?

Background: Cirrhotic patients have higher rates of hypercoagulable disorders. We hypothesized that orthotopic liver transplant (OLT) recipients with pre-operative portal vein thrombosis (PVT) have more postoperative thrombotic events than those without PVT. Aims: To compare rates of post-op thrombotic events and outcomes between those with and without pre-op PVT. Methods: All OLT recipients be...

Partial portal arterialization for hepatic arterial thrombosis after living-donor liver transplant.

OBJECTIVES The most serious, life-threatening complication after living-donor liver transplant is a hepatic arterial thrombosis. Although possible therapies for acute hepatic arterial thrombosis include revascularization to salvage the graft, or retransplant, these may be difficult to perform owing to technical aspects and donor shortages. Previously, we reported the usefulness of partial porta...

Intra-operative Ultrasound-guided Thrombectomy and Thrombolysis for Post-operative Portal Vein Thrombosis in Living Liver Donors

There are few reports of portal vein thrombosis among living donor liver transplant donors and no published data on the management of this event. In this report, we present our experience in the diagnosis and management of this rare complication in two living donor liver transplantation donors who developed post-operative portal vein thrombosis. Both cases were successfully managed with intra-o...

Effects of infection on post-transplant outcomes: living versus deceased donor liver transplants

Introduction Post-transplant infections have been studied widely but data on comparisons of deceased donor liver transplants (DDLT) and living donor liver transplants (LDLT), type and timings of infections, and their relations to outcomes are not explored. Material and methods We analysed data from 612 participants of the Adult-to-Adult Living Donor Liver Transplantation Study (A2ALL), a retr...

Adult to pediatric living donor liver transplantation for portal cavernoma.

AIM Portal cavernoma (PC) is an important cause of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension with severe complications, such as variceal hemorrhage in pediatric patients. With the development of new surgical techniques, living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) has recently been recognized as a viable but challenging treatment option for PC. The purpose of the present study was to summarize the efficac...
